COMSTECH –NIGERIA S&T COOPERATION

OIC’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), Islamabad Pakistan in collaboration of Government of Federal Republic of Nigeria has launched COMSTECH – Nigeria S&T Cooperation Program. Under the program, the COMSTECH announces the following programs.      

  1. Women Scientist Research Fellowship Program: Nigerian women scientists are offered fellowships for a period of 6-12 months to conduct research in leading R&D institutions of Pakistan such as International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi and University of Lahore (UoL), NUST, GIKI, etc.
  2. Institution Linkages between Nigeria and Pakistan: Nigerian R&D and Academic Institutions are invited for linkages with Pakistani institutions for collaborative research, exchange of knowledge and technology transfer.
  3. Capacity Building of Nigerian Scholars and Students:

ICGEB: The COMSECH has signed an MoU with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Trieste, Italy under which scholars of developing countries including Nigeria are offered training opportunities in world leading research institute. Furthermore, the Nigerian scientists may complete their research and fellowship grants under COMSTECH-ICGEB Program.

IFS: The COMSTECH-IFS Research Grants Program is ajoint Program for capacity building of the two organizations in the developing countries of OIC. The essential purpose of the collaboration is to enhance research capability within the African region, and to reap a rich harvest by obtaining matching grants from IFS for Nigerian scientists and institutions.

  1. Study visit of Pakistani Students to Nigeria: A study visit of ten Pakistani students enrolled at different national universities to Nigeria will be arranged. During the visit they will visit different Academic and Research Institutes to establish academic linkages.

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council, (RMRDC), Abuja, Nigeria is focal organization to implement the program.
