    To the General Coordinator COMSTECH

In the autumn of 2025, in the city of Sochi, Russia, the next XVI Russian National Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Zoning (with international participation (XVI RNCEE). XVI RNCEE It will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of education RAEE.

As part of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation, RAEE invites OIC–COMSTECH to participate in XVI Russian National Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Zoning (with international participation). The exact dates of the conference will be determined later.

The purpose of the conference is to exchange scientific achievements and practical experience on various aspects of ensuring seismic safety in the construction of buildings and structures in the Russian Federation and around the world.

XVI RNCEE – a platform for researchers, professionals and industry experts from around the world to develop new collaborations, gain fresh perspectives and shape the future of civil engineering, architecture and issues of safe construction in seismic areas.

As part of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation, RAEE is ready to receive the OIC–COMSTECH delegation without paying the registration fee consisting of 5 (five) people (flight, accommodation, meals at the expense of OIC–COMSTECH).

We will be glad to see other interested persons among the participants of the XVI RNCEE and others (who were not part of the delegation to the XVI RNCEE).

I ask you to recommend to the Organizing Committee: Mr. Muhammad Ameen Kalroo, Executive Secretary of OIC–COMSTECH, to the Scientific Committee: Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Dr., Prof., Vice-Chancellor of the NED University of Engineering and Technology and Muhammad Masood Rafi, Prof., PhD, Dean of the Department of Earthquake-Resistant Construction Engineering and Technology NED University. RAEE is ready to include other OIC–COMSTECH specialists in the Scientific and Organizational Committees of the XVI RNCEE.

I ask you to allow the use of the symbols (logo) of the OIC–COMSTECH on invitations and documents of the XVI RNCEE.

To participate in the conference in an expanded format, RAEE suggests that you independently find a sponsor who will pay for the participation of COMSTECH specialists in the XVI RNCEE. You find a sponsor who pays for participation, and we post full information about him on our website and conference materials.

In addition, I want to clarify the proposal related to the involvement of a sponsor.

    1. You can attract any sponsors to send a delegation from COMSTECH (entrepreneurs, organizations, private and public foundations, just individuals). We will post information about them on our website at their request.

    2. The composition of the delegation is determined directly by COMSTECH. I would like you to personally take over this function. My suggestion to you is that you can include specialists from the Ministry of Science and Technology, or from other ministries and departments among the participants. But this is just my suggestion, it’s up to you anyway.

    3. For our part, we will help with the registration of all documents, and also help with the armor at the hotel (I will personally contact our partners in Sochi and will keep this issue under control).

    4. We will arrange a meeting of the delegation. Most likely, my son Ivan will meet you.

    5. The sponsors pay us only the registration fee for the participants. There will be no other payments to our address.

    6. The sponsor can post information about himself at the conference by organizing an exhibition separately. We will also help you organize this part, but you must understand that this part is subject to payment to the hotel or our representative in Sochi, who will coordinate everything with the hotel.

    7. The agreement with the sponsor will be signed by three parties – the sponsor, COMSTECH and RAEE. So that everyone knows their rights and responsibilities.

    8. If you have a separate agreement with the sponsor, we do not mind and we do not need to be introduced to him. We call it a trade secret.       The participation of OIC–COMSTECH in the XVI RNCEE will draw even more attention to the issues and problems of safe construction in seismic regions of the world.

We hope for mutually beneficial cooperation!

  • COMSTECH-UTS International Workshop on Renewable Energy:Affordable & Clean Energy for ALL (CURE-ALL)

    September 23-25, 2025
Organized Under COMSTECH Forum on Environment and Ecosystem Restoration (CFEER)
Venue: University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia

    Flyer: Click Here

Energy generation, management, and environmental impact remain pressing global concerns, especially for developing economies facing rising energy demands. The shift from fossil fuels to renewable sources is critical not only for reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change, but also for promoting energy access, economic development, and supply security. Choosing the right energy mix requires a careful balance of sustainability, cost, and local resources. Energy is the basic pre-requisite for quality of life and socio-economic development. In today’s world everything depends on the provision of affordable energy, be the education, food security, water, and sanitation or healthcare

In view of the growing importance to enhance resilience and sustainability in the face of the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem restoration the OIC – COMSTECH launched the Forum on Environment and Ecosystem Restoration (CFEER), which acts as a catalyst in developing collaborations within OIC and beyond to address challenges of environment, food security, water and energy. The forum is based on the realization that OIC member countries and other developing countries have varying degrees of progress in different spheres of scientific and technological pursuits.  Given commonalities of socio-economic challenges sharing of experiences and expertise, fostering knowledge exchange, good practices and success stories would help to accelerate pace of their plans and programmes to address challenges relating to climate change and ecosystem restoration.

To address the challenges in energy sector, OIC-COMSTECH and University Technology Sarawak (Malaysia) are co-organizing a 3-day workshop from 23-25 September, 2025 to bring together energy professionals and policy makers from OIC countries. Sarawak offers a compelling case study: it generates about 70% of its electricity from hydroelectric sources—the highest renewable energy share in Southeast Asia—while continuing to integrate fossil fuels and emerging technologies.

With initiatives like the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) and the newly launched Sustainability Blueprint 2030, the state is positioning itself as ASEAN’s leading green energy hub. It is actively investing in hydropower, solar, hydrogen, and carbon market mechanisms, alongside infrastructure like electric vehicle charging stations.

The workshop will combine theoretical sessions with field visits to renewable energy facilities and community programs, offering participants practical insights into large-scale energy transition. It aims to highlight sustainable strategies informed by Sarawak’s experience in balancing development and environmental responsibility.

    Objectives:

    1. to explore the challenges and opportunities in transitioning toward sustainable and diversified energy systems in OIC member countries, with a focus on balancing energy access, economic growth, and environmental stewardship.
    2. to create awareness among policy makers, academics and professionals of the OIC Member Countries on renewable energy
    3. to introduce participants to innovative and regionally adapted energy solutions, including hydrogen development, community-based energy programs, and the use of carbon markets.
    4. to strengthen institutional and academic cooperation in renewable energy research, capacity building, and technology transfer among universities and stakeholders within the OIC region.

    Workshop Themes are:

    • The Energy Transition towards Renewable Energy Technologies
    • The Energy Transition towards Renewable Energy Technologies
    • Challenges in Integration of Renewable Energy
    • Renewable Energy policies/Incentives and Pricing
    • EV and Hydrogen Transitions: Policy, Technology, and Market Readiness
