Healthcare workers deployed in such environments are often exposed to intense stress, human suffering, loss, and personal risks. These experiences can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, burnout, and moral injury, which impact the well-being of healthcare providers but also affect the quality of care they deliver.
Through this session, the OIC-COMSTECH seeks to raise awareness, share coping and self-care strategies, provide resilience-building tools, and showcase institutional and community support systems that can help healthcare workers manage trauma effectively. The webinar will also serve as a knowledge-sharing forum to strengthen collaboration among experts, policymakers, and healthcare providers across OIC Member States.
Objectives:
- To understand the psychological impact of war and conflict on healthcare workers.
- To discuss practical coping strategies, resilience-building tools, and self-care techniques.
- To highlight institutional and community support systems that can reduce the burden of trauma.
- To create a knowledge-sharing forum among experts and healthcare providers in OIC member states.
Target audiences:
- Healthcare workers and frontline medical staff serving in conflict or disaster-affected regions
- Mental health professionals, psychologists, and counselors
- Hospital administrators and healthcare policymakers
- Researchers and academics working on trauma, resilience, and conflict medicine
- Representatives from humanitarian organizations and NGOs
