The OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), in collaboration with Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, is pleased to announce the COMSTECH–Al Shifa Eye Research Fellowship Program.
This prestigious six-month research fellowship aims to promote high-quality research in eye and vision sciences by strengthening research capacity, fostering collaborative research, and supporting innovation among researchers from OIC Member States.
The fellowship provides hands-on research exposure at Pakistan’s leading eye care and research institution, enabling fellows to engage in cutting-edge ophthalmic research, develop advanced research skills, and contribute to scientific publications and patents.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, the participants will:
- Gain advanced knowledge of eye disease research methodologies
- Design and conduct independent and collaborative ophthalmic research
- Enhance skills in scientific writing, data analysis, and publication
- Apply ethical and international standards in clinical and translational research
- Strengthen professional networks among OIC research institutions
- Translate research findings into practical solutions for eye health.
Target Audience:
- Researchers and early-career scientists working in eye and vision sciences
- Ophthalmologists, optometrists, and allied health professionals engaged in eye disease research
- Faculty members and research staff from universities, research institutes, and medical colleges in OIC Member States
- Professionals involved in clinical, translational, and public health research related to eye care
- Applicants from African countries and other underrepresented OIC regions are especially encouraged to apply

- Training and living expenses covered by Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital
- Eligibility:
- Nationals of OIC Member States and Observer States
- Applicants from African countries are strongly encouraged
- Pre-Requisite:
- Education: MS or above
- Research Experience: Preferably in eye diseases
