Introduction:
As the global demand for clean and sustainable energy continues to rise, solar power has emerged as one of the most effective solutions for addressing energy shortages, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting economic development. Distributed power generation, in particular, offers an innovative approach by enabling energy production closer to the point of use, increasing efficiency, reliability, and accessibility.

Realizing the importance, OIC-COMSTECH, under the COMSTECH Forum on Environment and Ecosystem Restoration (CFEER) has launched the Training Program on Youth Skill Development on Solar Power Solutions for Distributed Power Generation. The program is designed to empower young professionals, students, researchers, and technical practitioners with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in modern solar energy systems.

The training will bring together distinguished experts, industry leaders, and international speakers who will share their knowledge and experiences in renewable energy technologies. Participants will gain valuable insights into the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the solar energy sector.

Objectives

The program aims to equip youth with practical skills and knowledge in solar energy, with a focus on distributed power generation.

  • To enhance awareness of safe, efficient, and cost-effective solar technologies
  • To develop hands-on technical skills in solar system installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • To gain practical skills in implementing basic solar power systems for distributed energy generation.
  • To supporting youth in gaining knowledge and generating opportunities in the solar energy sector.
  • To promote the use of renewable, and sustainable energy solutions for environmentally friendly power generation.

Expected Outcomes

  • Participants will develop practical skills in the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar power systems.
  • Participants will gain a better understanding of distributed solar energy solutions, including rooftop, off-grid, and mini-grid systems.
  • The training will encourage the development of youth-led solar technical service providers.
  • Communities will strengthen their local technical capacity to manage and maintain solar energy systems effectively.
