The OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC – COMSTECH), incollaboration with the SUEN, Türkiye, is pleased to announce a two-day hybrid training program on “Water Governance and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM): Principles, Practices and Tools” for participants from OIC Member States.
About the Organizers
COMSTECH serves as a key OIC platform for promoting cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, with a strong focus on capacity building and sustainable development across Member States.
SUEN is a national think tank established to develop national water policies, provide consultation to decision makers, coordinate between organizations & institutions and enhance scientific research and strategic ideas with a focus on creating a common platform for water management
Program Overview
This program is designed to strengthen institutional and human resource capacities in water resource management by providing practical insights, policy frameworks, and modern tools for effective water governance. It will bring together experts and practitioners to address pressing water challenges through integrated, climate-resilient, and data-driven approaches.
The training will cover key dimensions of water governance and IWRM through structured sessions, including:
- Principles of Good Water Governance
- Foundations of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and river basin-scale planning
- Practical Applications of IWRM, including:
- River basin management and sectoral water allocation
- Climate change adaptation and hydrometeorological disaster management (floods and droughts)
- Water efficiency practices and digital solutions for data-driven decision-making
- Performance Benchmarking of Water Utilities
- Transboundary Water Governance and Water Diplomacy
The program will include interactive sessions with Q&A opportunities, enabling participants to engage with experts and share regional experiences.
