أولاً: يُمكن للمرشحين من الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الإسلامي التقديم.

ثانياً: المتطلبات الأكاديمية

• 16 عاماً من التعليم (بحد أدنى 120 ساعة معتمدة) في التخصص ذي الصلة بعد إتمام الصف الثاني عشر/شهادة الثانوية العامة/المستوى المتقدم أو ما يعادلها.

• معدل تراكمي 2.0 من 4.0 (نظام الفصول الدراسية) أو ما يعادله (النظام السنوي) من جامعة باكستانية أو أجنبية معترف بها.

ثالثًا: اختبار القبول والمقابلة

      الاختبار: الحصول على 50% كحد أدنى في اختبار

أو اختبار القبول الخاص بالقسم بالجامعة GRE

• المقابلة: تُجرى من قبل لجنة القبول بالقسم

Background:

Aerospace technology is one of the most advanced and strategically vital sectors, driving innovations in communications, defense, space exploration, and environmental monitoring. Despite the growing importance of aerospace capabilities globally, most OIC member states are underrepresented in this field due to limited investments, capacity gaps, and fragmented collaboration.

Recognizing the urgent need to build indigenous capabilities and strengthen cooperation among OIC Member Countries, OIC-COMSTECH proposes a technology exhibition and conference to bring together stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and research institutions. This initiative aims to create a unified platform for knowledge-sharing, policy dialogue, and technology partnerships that reflect the collective aspirations of the Islamic world in aerospace innovation.

Objectives:
To catalyze capacity-building, collaboration, and technological advancement in aerospace sectors among OIC member states.

• To showcase current developments and capabilities in aerospace technologies within the Muslim world.
• To identify opportunities for joint research, development, and industrial collaboration among OIC countries.
• To highlight the role of academia and youth in advancing aerospace innovation.
• To promote policy dialogue on space governance, airspace security, and peaceful uses of space.
• To establish a permanent working group or platform for aerospace cooperation under OIC-COMSTECH.

Background

Leishmaniasis is a major Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) affecting millions of people worldwide, particularly in OIC Member States across South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Accurate differential diagnosis and effective in vitro cultivation of Leishmania spp. are essential for disease confirmation, epidemiological surveillance, drug susceptibility testing, and research on parasite biology.

NTD inflicts substantial socioeconomic consequences for the affected communities. These consequences include long term disability, reduced productivity, and increased health costs. At the global level, and at the OIC level, strengthening the capacity of the endemic countries to detect, differentiate, and monitor Leishmania infections. It is critically important to achieve objectives of the World Health Organization’s NTD Road Map and advancing progress toward universal health coverage, and the Sustainable Development Goals.  There is pressing need to build sustainable laboratory and research capacities in the OIC member states particularly important for improving early diagnosis, effective disease surveillance, monitoring treatment outcome, and drug resistance, and developing improved diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

In continuation of previous successful capacity-building initiatives conducted in Kenya (2023) and Ethiopia (2024), Morocco (2025), COMSTECH, in collaboration with the NTD Network, and Samarkand State Medical University, Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is organizing this specialized hands-on training workshop in Samarkand, Uzbekistan to strengthen clinical diagnosis, laboratory and research capacities in the Central Asian region.

Objectives of the Workshop

The training aims to:

• Strengthen technical capacity in differential diagnostics of cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis.
• Provide practical training in in vitrocultivation and maintenance of Leishmania spp.
• Enhance understanding of parasite biology, molecular characterization, and laboratory biosafety.
• Promote regional collaboration and networking among young scientists and researchers in OIC countries.

• Epidemiology and burden of leishmaniasis in OIC Member States
• Clinical differentiation of cutaneous vs. visceral leishmaniasis
• Microscopic diagnosis (smear preparation, staining techniques)
• Molecular diagnostic techniques (PCR-based methods, species identification)
• Culture media preparation and parasite isolation
• In vitro cultivation, cryopreservation, and maintenance of Leishmania strains
• Quality control and laboratory biosafety standards
• Overview of drug screening and susceptibility testing

برز تغير المناخ كأحد أهم التحديات التي تؤثر على الموارد السمكية والنظم البيئية المائية على مستوى العالم. إذ  تؤثر الزيادة في درجات الحرارة، وتغير أنماط هطول الأمطار، وتداخل الملوحة، وتدهور الموائل، وتزايد حدوث الظواهر المناخية المتطرفة بشكل كبير على إنتاج الأسماك، والحفاظ على التنوع البيولوجي، والأمن الغذائي. وتُعد المجتمعات التي تعتمد على مصايد الأسماك أكثر عرضة للتأثر بهذه التغيرات البيئية، مما يستدعي اتباع أساليب مبتكرة ومستدامة لإدارة مصايد الأسماك وتطوير الاستزراع المائي.

وتعمل التطورات التكنولوجية على إحداث تحول في قطاع مصايد الأسماك من خلال إدخال أنظمة الاستزراع المائي  الذكية مناخيًا، وتطبيقات التكنولوجيا الحيوية، وتقنيات الرصد الدقيق، والاستشعار عن بُعد، وأدوات إدارة الموارد القائمة على البيانات. وتوفر هذه الابتكارات فرصًا واعدة لتعزيز الإنتاجية، وزيادة قدرة النظم البيئية على الصمود، ودعم الاستخدام المستدام للموارد السمكية.

ومع ذلك، لا تزال هناك تحديات كبيرة تتعلق بإمكانية الوصول إلى التكنولوجيا، وبناء القدرات، وتنفيذ السياسات، والتكيف مع تغير المناخ، ولا سيما في البلدان النامية.

The Nobel Fest 2023 in Islamabad will be jointly hosted by OIC-COMSTECH and Inclusive Development Foundation during November 29-30, 2023. It will center around scientific discoveries and technological innovations, with a particular focus on key topics such as the future of medicine, digitalization in education, world-changing technologies, efforts to combat climate change, and strategies for economic development.

The objective of the Nobel Fest is to make education and science accessible for everyone in the world, especially the least developed and developing countries of OIC. Nobel Fest is considered as one of the key tools in the popularization and development of education, science and technology and motivate thousands of students and young scientists to search for answers to the unexplored mysteries of our world. The Nobel Fest will have participation from Nobel laureates, reputable scientists, experts and heads of international companies/tech giants.

The Ministerial Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Organization (OIC) in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination (M/oNHSR&C), will organize a Training workshop for National Assessors on the Implementation of Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework on 7th-9th August 2023 at COMSTECH Secretariat.
The Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework (PSFHF) is aimed at enhancing the visibility and implementation of patient safety practices in healthcare facilities. The initiative provides a framework through which hospitals can deliver safer patient care. The framework comprises a comprehensive set of standards and an assessment methodology that specifically target patient safety. The standards were initially developed in 2011 by a group of international experts and are based on research and best practice. The standards were revised to the second edition in 2016 and recently been revised to the third edition in 2020. The focus of PSFHF is twofold, one to assess hospitals from a patient safety perspective and two to build the capacity of staff in patient safety.
Training methodology
The workshop will foster an interactive approach for development of the local capacity on the use of the PSFHF assessment and improvement initiative. It will provide guidance on “know how” and “know do” for the implementation of PSFHF standards. The approach for implementation will be provided through a field visit to one selected hospital to illustrate the methodology for the identification of gaps and priorities. Then participants will be guided on how to use the findings for institutionalization of a patient safety system based on the WHO patient safety tool kit.

Training objectives:
• To provide updates on WHO global and regional patient Safety programs
• To introduce the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework (PSFHF) and the associated tools for assessing and improving PS
• To train national assessors from each sector based on the PSFHF assessment manual.
• To develop a road map for action to be followed by all participating hospitals on the short/mid-terms.
Expected outcomes:
• Update knowledge of Patient Safety focal points on the WHO patient safety interventions.
• PSFHF components recognized by participating team from each health department and healthcare commissions, and hospitals.
• Identify Patient Safety Gaps at the hospital level based on the PSFHF standards.
• Guidance on how to successfully perform a self-assessment by reference to the PSFHI standards’ requirements.
• Road map for the institutionalization of a patient safety program at the hospital level based on the WHO PSFHF.

Speakers Profile:

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir did his BSC Chemical Engineering and MSC Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Engineering & technology, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He won gold medal by securing first position in MSc Chemical Engineering. He has 10 years of industrial experience on his credit. He obtained outstanding performance award from Punjab University in 2005. He did his PhD from University of Leeds, UK. His area of research in Biomass-Coal Co-Combustion and his research work has been published in international and national journals of high impact factor.

He worked as controller Examination, University of the Punjab from 2014 to 2018. He served as Director Centre for Coal Technology, University of the Punjab form 2011-2018. He secured funding of around Rs.2.0 billion in the projects and launched many academic programs including those that were not being taught in the country. He transformed centre for coal technology into Institute of Energy and Environmental Engineering in Punjab University. He has been member of panel of experts of Punjab Power Development Board for the Establishment of Coal Fired Power Plants in Punjab. He was first one who challenged the Thar coral underground coal gasification project of Dr. Samar Mubarakmand and suggested open pit mining in that coal field. Now, according to his proposed technology coal is being mined at Thar and power generation is going on.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir served as a Vice Chancellor of the University of Jhang from 2018-2022. Keeping in view his outstanding performance, he was appointed as Vice Chancellor on additional charge at, University of Mianwali from July 2020 to February 2021 to initiate that university from scratch that he did in similar fashion in Jhang. Moreover, he assumed the additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor, University of Sargodha from 18 June 2021 to 17 September 2021. He worked hard to de-politicise the University of Sargodha and implemented meritocracy. He has been member of more than 100 statutory bodies/committees of different organizations keeping in view his visionary and dynamic leadership. He is appointed as Chairperson Punjab Higher Education commission in June 2022.
