“Uzbekistan: A Scientific Approach to Studying the Rich Heritage of the Great Thinkers of the Muslim World”
Uzbekistan Embassy conducted a round table session on 10th of August, 2017 on “A Scientific Approach to Studying the Rich Heritage of the Great Thinkers of the Muslim World”. The event was hosted by COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad. Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Head of Mission Kazakhstan Embassy, Second Secretary Afghanistan Embassy, heads of some institutions, and a number of distinguished scientists attended the event.
The Coordinator General COMSTECH, Dr. Shaukat Hameed Khan, welcomed the guests and briefly introduced them to the ongoing activities of COMSTECH. After his address, a documentary about rich heritage of the great thinkers of the Muslim world, especially Central Asia and Uzbekistan, was played. H.E. Furkat Sidikov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, then addressed the audience and narrated the achievements of the Muslim Scientists and their splendid legacy.
It was emphasized that the environment for knowledge generation, of which science and technology are major components, must be fostered in the Muslim countries. This was followed by a discussion, including how Muslim scientists lost the lead in science. Some participants emphasized the importance of highlighting Muslim scientists' history to our youth in order to inspire them to work hard and revive the Muslim legacy of scholarship. The program was concluded by Dr. Qasim Jan, Adviser COMSTECH, with vote of thanks to Excellencies and distinguished guests.
