Solutions of Differential Equations from Transform Techniques (SDETT-2014) January 30 – February 1, 2014

Differential equation is one of the important branches of Mathematics that helps in understanding the dynamics of real-life problems that appear in miscellaneous fields of science, e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc. The search for solutions of differential equations has been the prime task for all mathematicians. Over the last two decades there has been an enormous increase in the use of Lie symmetries to solve differential equations. The technique has proved to be extremely useful and most Computer Algebra Systems (CAS) use it to obtain the solution space of differential equations. 

Objectives:

• The conference is aimed to provide a unique platform for young researchers, faculty and, especially, graduate students from OIC to interact/collaborate with distinguished researchers from all over the world working in the area of special functions and transforms, symmetries, conservation laws, bi-Hamiltonians to study underlying geometrical structures and integrable properties of differential equations

• To help researchers from engineering and other applied disciplines to comprehend the technique and use it effectively in modelling, simulations etc.

• Mathematical physicists and others in basic sciences would use the technique to solve their problems.

Targeted ParticIpants:

The workshop should be of interest to young mathematicians, physicists, scientists, engineers and technologists at the professional level who are either using or intend to use new techniques for solving differential equations. It may be of particular interest to participants from areas where differential equations appear in the modelling of physical phenomena.

Workshop Structure:

Professor Asghar Qadir from the School of Natural Sciences (SNS), formerly known as Centre for Advanced Mathematics and Physics (CAMP), will direct the workshop. The workshop includes lectures, interactive sessions, application-oriented exercises and technical discussions. A complete session of two hours per day has been allotted for participants to discuss their work and experience in the field.

Registeration Fee:

Registration fee is US Dollar 50 for foreign and Pak rupees 2,500 for local participants, which includes the cost of daily refreshments and stationery only. Instructions for fee submission will be provided to the successful candidates after selection process.

Local Hospitality and Travel:

COMSTECH will provide local hospitality including accommodation and meals in its Guest House (US$120.00 per day single occupancy and US$ 70.00 per day double occupancy) from its own resources to invited resource persons and a limited number of selected participants.

Travel grants are available for invited resource persons only. Pick and drop service on arrival and departure will be provided to only those who are travelling by air.

Focal Persons of the Workshop:

Prof. Dr. Asghar Qadir is an internationally established Mathematician of Pakistan who has published extensively in leading journals of the world. He is a fellow of several academies and has been conferred upon many awards, including mainly Al Kharizmi First Prize for Mathematics (1995), Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal (1996), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (1999), ISESCO Award for Mathematics (2003), and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2008).

Presently, he is affiliated with School of Natural Sciences (SNS), National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan.
